2025 Yamaha R3 Unveiled With Updated Design
The immensely popular Yamaha R3 nameplate has been in production since 2015. While it has undergone updates in the past, 2024 signifies a major transformation for this supersport, as it embraces a brand-new design language aligned with Yamaha’s latest faired offerings. For the 2025 model year, Yamaha has also introduced new equipment. Following the recent unveiling of the R9, the 2025 Yamaha R3 features a revamped front end that is sharper than the current model available in India. The R3 made its return to the domestic market late last year, alongside its naked counterpart, the MT-03, and is imported via the CBU route. Therefore, we can anticipate the new model’s arrival in India sometime in 2025.
Returning to the design, the new R3 showcases a pair of sleek LED projector headlamps, complemented by striking LED Daytime Running Lights that flank the headlamp in a thunderbolt-like formation. The side body panels and rear have also been redesigned to accentuate its aggressive appearance. Additionally, the equipment list has been updated to include a new LCD instrument cluster featuring smartphone connectivity and Bluetooth capabilities.
he updated Yamaha R3 is now equipped with a slipper and assist clutch, a feature that has long been anticipated. It retains the familiar 321cc parallel twin-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled engine, producing a maximum output of 41.4 bhp and 29.5 Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed transmission. Upon its arrival in India, the motorcycle will continue to compete with models like the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Ninja 500, and Aprilia RS 457, among others.
In terms of suspension, the faired R3 features upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, sourced from Kayaba. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by a dual-channel ABS system.
If Yamaha were to introduce the R3 through the CKD route, it could lower prices and appeal to a broader spectrum of evolving audiences in India. Enthusiasts interested in 300-400cc faired motorcycles might also view the R3 as a premium alternative.
