Yokohama Tires backs a record breaking Leh-Kanyakumari Expedition
Record attempts like the one here are a true test of The Man and The Machine, with many challenges to overcome and many odds to fight
Yokohama Tyres is backing a record-breaking Leh to Kanyakumari drive event in a record time. Mr.Paras Bhimta, an avid traveler and driving enthusiast will attempt the said driving expedition, a 4000km North to South record run. The vehicle he will be using is The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, a tough-as-nails, reliable Japanese pick-up truck that will be running on the Yokohama Gelandar AT G015 tires. Yokohama Geolandar is one of the go-to choices for All Terrain SUV tires in the Indian market.
The Expedition
The shot at the title would require Mr.Bhimta to cover the 4000 km endeavor in a record-breaking time of below the 56 hours and 20 minutes time mark. We ourselves are no strangers to such record runs. Our man Devjeet Saha successfully clinched the record in December 2020 by driving a Tata Altroz diesel MT, covering 1603km in less than 24 hours. Read more about that here.
Based on our experience, we can tell that record runs are no small feat. It is the true test of The Man and The Machine. It takes a load of endurance on the driver’s part to cover the grueling miles. The challenges that the driver might face include but aren’t limited to driver fatigue, vehicle performance issues, traffic and road conditions, weather conditions, toll booth queues, and the lot. Given the weather conditions currently at play in our country, with flash floods and rains lashing different regions, the Yokohama Geolanders feel cut out for the job as they are designed for high levels of Wet Grip and Off-Road performance.
The tyres as well as the truck are no surprising choices, given the nature of the record run.
Mr.Paras Bhimta said, “The test of attrition has always elicited my interest as a passionate endurance driver who wants to travel for the long haul. This journey would present numerous challenges because it would traverse all of India’s terrains. This is why the Geolandar AT G015 is my go-to tire as it gives me the complete reliability of its performance on all the tough terrains that my vehicle will encounter,”
Mr. Harshwardhan Honmode, Director at Yokohama India said, “The brand Yokohama is all about celebrating the motoring lifestyle. We are happy to be associated with Paras Bhimta’s passion for motoring with our all-terrain Geolandar tires and have spruced up his vehicle with the sporty Yokohama decals as he embarks on a journey to be a potential record breaker. From Leh to Kanyakumari, the Geolandars will wheel him through the ever-changing and grueling terrains of India.”
We at MotoArc wish Mr. Paras Bhimta All the Very Best for his expedition, while also praying for his safety and well-being. GodSpeed.
