Aprilia launched RSV4 ex3ma with Moto GP Technology .
Aprilia has introduced the RSV4 X ex3ma, the most advanced RSV4 to date. This model marks the fourth phase of a distinctive project that started in 2019 with the RSV4 X, continued with the Tuono X, and evolved in 2022 with the enhanced RSV4 X Thirty. Each of these exceptional models, denoted by an ‘X’, showcases the highest level of technology and performance accessible to consumers.
Aprilia Racing was the pioneer in pushing the boundaries of aerodynamic studies in MotoGP. Acknowledging their significance, the brand introduced innovative solutions that positioned the Aprilia RS-GP prototype as the most advanced in this area.
The Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma establishes a direct connection to MotoGP, being the first and only motorcycle available for public sale featuring ground-effect aerodynamics.
The uniquely shaped molded fairing on the sides harnesses air pressure between the ground and the bike during corners, enhancing grip.
This comprehensive aerodynamic package, inspired by MotoGP, includes a newly designed front wing, an underwing (often referred to as the ‘spoon’) located under the swing-arm, and cornering wings positioned at the lower section of the front mudguard.
The fairing is entirely crafted from carbon fiber by PAN Composite, utilizing the same techniques as seen in MotoGP. Compared to the already advanced X Trenta, it increases vertical air pressure fivefold in a straight line, enhancing stability and precision while minimizing wheelies. In corners, it triples the downforce, significantly boosting grip.
The unique Perla Nera livery pays homage to Aprilia’s legacy. The glossy black finish and graphic design of the RSV4 X ex3ma clearly celebrate one of the sport’s legendary bikes, the RS 250, which Max Biaggi rode to three consecutive world championships in the 250cc class from 1994 to 1996. It’s fitting that Aprilia Racing chose this livery for the recent Silverstone race, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of MotoGP, where each manufacturer showcased its most iconic colors.
Max Biaggi played a key role in the track development and final tuning of the RSV4 X ex3ma. He stated, “Being involved in the development of a bike like the RSV4 X ex3ma felt like participating in the test sessions of a true racing prototype. It’s akin to pre-season testing, where the technical foundations for an entire season are established. Our dedication on the track has been relentless, aiming to create a motorcycle that gives its fortunate riders the same thrilling sensations as a racing prototype. In many ways, this bike is just that, as it’s the first time such a comprehensive setup, incorporating various parameters from MotoGP aerodynamics, has been crafted for passionate customers. I’m genuinely proud of what we’ve achieved. The bike is thrilling to behold, and the Perla Nera livery brings its glorious history to life. On the track, it was an exhilarating experience – you could really feel the downforce from the ground effect fairing in fast corners, which was a fantastic sensation. Aprilia Racing will produce just 30 exclusive, fully handmade examples, making this bike even more extraordinary.”
he data sheet outlines a genuine racing bike designed without compromises. The 65° V4 engine, with a displacement of 1099 cc, has been meticulously refined by Aprilia Racing’s engine experts, producing 230 hp at 13,500 rpm and 131 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. This impressive performance is achieved through targeted tuning of the V4, featuring a higher compression ratio, a high-permeability Sprint Filter air filter, and an SC Project exhaust system with titanium headers and twin tailpipes.
The evolution of the Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma extends beyond advancements in aerodynamics and engine performance; its electronic systems also elevate this superbike to unprecedented levels of technology and capability. At the heart of these systems is Aprilia Racing’s acclaimed APX ECU, a unique component that represents the latest evolution of the technology used in the WSBK World Championships, where Biaggi achieved victory with the RSV4. This ECU features the same operational strategies as the RSV4 race models and includes an integrated data acquisition system that relies on specific sensors for fine-tuning vehicle dynamics.
Notably, the APX system allows for precise calibration of wheelie control, power output, traction control, and engine braking for each gear. Riders can adjust these parameters on the fly using a dedicated push-button panel or configure them during setup with the editable interface software provided on an included laptop. An integrated GPS further enhances the functionality of the APX system, with a Yashi laptop included to manage the ECU software effectively.
The bike’s twin-spar aluminum frame, a hallmark of Aprilia’s expertise in designing agile and precise chassis, is paired with Öhlins mechanical suspension featuring a custom setup, including a sophisticated pressurized fork.
The braking system is powered by Brembo components, featuring a 19×16 radial pump at the front, GP4 MS billet calipers with Z04 racing pads, and 330 mm T Drive brake discs. The rear brake is equipped with a caliper featuring surface nickel plating for added durability and performance.
The Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma features carbon fiber rims that significantly reduce weight and unsprung mass, resulting in improved handling, acceleration, and braking performance. These rims are fitted with the same slick tires used by Pirelli in the Superbike World Championship: SC1 (front, 125/70) and SCX (rear, 200/65).
The right handlebar switch is a racing component from Jetprime, while the adjustable footpegs, clutch lever, steering plate (engraved with the model’s serial number), tank cap, engine casing, and front brake lever guards are all made from billet aluminum. Additionally, oversized water and oil coolers, crafted to racing specifications by Taleo Tecnoracing, further enhance performance. The final drive includes a titanium crown, a lightweight sprocket by PBR, and an RK racing chain.
Each of the 30 Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma motorcycles is priced at 80,000 euros (excluding VAT) in Europe, equivalent to approximately INR74,42,577.97 RS in India. Reservations will be available exclusively online starting in September at FACTORYWORKS.APRILIA.COM. Lucky buyers will have the unique opportunity to collect their bikes at Aprilia Racing in Noale, including an exclusive visit to the racing division.
