Kawasaki KLX 230 S to be unveiled on October 17

A week ago, we reported that Kawasaki is set to launch the KLX 230 S dual sport motorcycle in India. Now, the company has begun teasing an upcoming motorcycle on its social media, with a reveal scheduled for October 17th.

While the teasers don’t specify the model or its name, the off-road-themed imagery suggests that the new KLX is the bike in question.

The Kawasaki KLX 230 is a straightforward dual sport motorcycle, and the variant being introduced in India is the more accessible S model, featuring reduced suspension travel and a lower seat height. Despite these adjustments, the bike still offers an impressive ground clearance of 239mm and suspension travel of 198mm at the front and 220mm at the rear. The seat height is set at 843mm, complemented by a slim, off-road-style seat. In the USA, the KLX 230 S weighs 133kg, though this figure is likely to increase due to the addition of emissions compliance equipment and ABS.

Powering the KLX is an air-cooled, 2-valve single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 233cc. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, it is expected to produce around 17-20hp. This positions the KLX as a direct competitor to the Hero Xpulse 200, with anticipated pricing around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom, India) or possibly even lower.
