Skoda Kylaq teased ahead of global debut

Skoda has unveiled a teaser for its highly anticipated Kylaq SUV, set to make its global debut on November 6. This teaser provides a sneak peek at several design elements, including the silhouette of the tail lamps, the distinctive Kylaq badging at the rear, and the outline of the headlamps. Notably, the promotional campaign for the SUV has been directed by renowned filmmaker Rohit Shetty, celebrated for his work on popular films such as Singam and Golmaal. Shetty is expected to make a spectacular entrance with the vehicle during the premiere.

The Kylaq represents Skoda’s foray into the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment, featuring a robust 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that generates 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. Buyers will have the choice between a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic torque converter.

In the competitive landscape, the Kylaq will face off against established models like the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Taigun, Maruti Fronx, and Mahindra XUV300. This launch is significant for Skoda as it marks their re-entry into the sub-10 lakh segment after nearly a decade, while also providing an opportunity to enhance their presence in tier-2 and tier-3 markets, where their footprint has been relatively limited.
