Toyota Yaris Launched in India with 4 petrol variants

Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the mid-size sedan Yaris in India at an introductory price of Rs. 8.75 lakh for the base variant J and the top end VX variant is priced at Rs. 14.07 lakh, which comes with a CVT automatic transmission. (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). The deliveries of the newly launched sedan will be starting in the month of May while the bookings were taken earlier with a token amount of Rs. 50,000 The all-new Sedan is based on the Corolla Altis and comes with 4 variants in both manual and CVT transmission.

Currently looking at the market situation, Toyota has priced the Yaris very carefully with keeping its rivals like Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna in mind. Looking at the baby Corolla in the flesh one thing is clear that Toyota is now in the game to score some serious numbers in this competitive market. Toyota Yaris has already won nationwide appreciation for its class-leading features, superior comfort, top-notch quality and excellent performance.

Now let’s look at some more details of the sedan. The new Toyota Yaris is offered in 4 variants – J, G, V, VX offered only petrol manual or petrol automatic while the letter gets a CVT unit. The reason Toyota Yaris is launched in only petrol variant is to gain maximum fuel efficiency from the engine which is a 1.5-litre strictly tuned for efficiency. Talking about the looks the Toyota Yaris shares its design cues from its older sibling, Toyota Corolla Altis and some from the Camry. In the front, the Yaris gets pretty sweptback headlamps with projector units, LED DRLs and LED guide lights which are fitted just above the large front glossy black grille with stylish looking slats. The front is styled properly and gives the sedan an aggressive look.  The sedan gets 15-inch multispoke alloy wheels which add to the sportiness. The door handles gets chrome while the ORVMs get integrated turn signal lights. Coming to the rear, Yaris has been shaped quite nicely and the large pair of LED taillamps blend quite well with it. The sedan also gets a pair of rear fog lamps on the rear bumper. At the heart of the Toyota Yaris sits a 1.5-litre petrol engine which churns out 108 bhp of max power and 140 Nm of peak torque.

Talking about the interiors and features the Yaris comes well equipped and feature loaded. Projector headlamps and keyless entry are standard features of the sedan. Coming on the inside the Yaris gets premium quality interior like roof mounted air-vents with ambient illumination, which is found in no other mid-size sedan till date. The Yaris also gets 8-way power driver seat, flat floor for the rear section, glass high solar energy absorbing and tire pressure monitoring system, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control, automatic climate control and audio, and controls such as telephony, cruise control are mounted on the multifunction steering wheel.

Toyota Yaris received 5-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.
