BYD eMAx7 to be launched in India on 8 October
BYD is set to launch its new eMAX7 MPV in India on October 8, positioning it as the successor to the popular E6 MPV. The eMAX7 will offer three rows of seating and an upgraded range of features, including a larger driving range compared to its predecessor. This model is being touted as BYD’s competitor to the Toyota Innova, aiming to capture a significant share of the premium MPV market.
Externally, the eMAX7 retains the familiar MPV design seen in the E6 but comes with a refreshed look, including a redesigned front, new wheels, and updated tail lamps. Inside, the cabin will be decked out in a beige and black color scheme, offering modern amenities like powered front seats, dual digital displays, a power-operated tailgate, and seating configurations for six or seven passengers.
The previous E6 model featured a 71.7kWh battery, delivering a range of 500km. This has now been upgraded to a 71.8kWh unit in the eMAX7, extending the range to 530km on a full charge. Power has also been significantly boosted, with the output increasing from 94bhp to 204bhp, while torque jumps from 180Nm to 310Nm, which should enhance the driving experience.
Previously, BYD targeted competitors like the Hyundai Tucson with its Atto3 model, and the Seal was positioned as a premium offering. The eMAX7, however, is expected to become a volume driver for the company, appealing to both private buyers and luxury fleet operators, such as five-star hotels and premium cab services. The pricing is anticipated to range between Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 33 lakh (ex-showroom).
