Force Motors is gearing up to challenge the RWD Mahindra Thar by introducing a similar RWD version of the Gurkha. The Indian automaker is set to launch this new variant in the domestic market in the upcoming months.
Currently, the Force Gurkha comes in both three-door and five-door versions, with an AWD drivetrain as standard. In its current form, the Gurkha directly competes with the Mahindra Thar three-door. However, Mahindra also offers the Thar in RWD petrol and diesel variants at a more affordable starting price of Rs. 11.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The design of the RWD Gurkha will remain unchanged, maintaining its three-door body style. At present, the three-door and five-door versions of the Force Gurkha are priced at Rs. 16.75 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). We anticipate the RWD variant of the Gurkha to be priced between Rs. 14 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom). This competitive pricing could make it more appealing to customers and potentially attract buyers away from the RWD Mahindra Thar, which currently has a long waiting period.
