Henry Ford succeeded the first moving assembly line in 1913

At Highland Park a new 60-acre Ford factory was built. Inspired by Chicago meatpacking plants, Henry Ford designed a moving assembly line for his factory. Assembling time of Model T came down to 5 hours 56 minutes from 9 hours four minute. This eventually made the Model T more affordable.
Cars were assembled in an incremental building process. There were multiple sections each part and the entire factory had 500 departments along the assembly line. This technology is used in every assembly related industry today including of course the automotive industry.
