Hyundai Ioniq 9 teased ahead of reveal this month
Hyundai has offered a first look at its upcoming flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 9, slated for an official debut later this month. Positioned as Hyundai’s premier electric SUV, the Ioniq 9 is expected to mirror the Kia EV9’s seat configuration, powertrain options, and extensive feature lineup. Initially introduced as the Concept 7 in 2021, the production-ready Ioniq 9 is anticipated to retain much of the concept’s original design.
The teaser reveals a bold, frameless silhouette with a distinctly boxy build, enhancing the classic three-row SUV appeal. Hyundai has also provided a glimpse of the wheel design, showcasing vertically stacked tail lights and flared wheel arches, adding a refined edge to the SUV’s robust profile.
The Ioniq 9’s release comes as a natural progression, following the Kia EV9’s success over the past two years. This launch aligns with Hyundai’s broader strategy of offering diverse models across various segments to capture market share collectively.
The SUV is set to debut in the American market, with initial production likely to take place there before reaching other regions worldwide. Hyundai plans to bring the Ioniq 9 to India by 2026 as part of a global technology showcase, employing a similar approach to Kia’s EV9 rollout.
