The dual tone paint scheme on the 2018 Elite i20 looks quite attractive

Hyundai has recently launched the very much awaited i20 Elite premium hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Elite i20 has been a global success with over 4 lakh customers since its launch in 2014.  The hot hatch will be launched in both petrol as well as diesel variants. Keeping the competition in mind, Hyundai has priced the Elite i20 petrol at a very attractive price of Rs. 5.35 lakhs. The diesel variant starts from Rs. 6.73 lakh. (ex-showroom price, Delhi).  The top end Asta (O) petrol is priced at 7.9 lakhs while the top end diesel variant is priced at 9.15 lakhs.  And the good news is, the car is already at Hyundai dealerships around and deliveries have already started. Talking about the looks and styling, the car gets minor changes on the cosmetic side and to be honest it is quite difficult to pick on the changes as it looks quite similar to its predecessor. Changes include a new front bumper and grille design. All new diamond cut 16-inch alloy wheels with a completely new design which will help the premium hatchback in defining its looks in the market. Talking about the rear design, the changes are more extrusive with the all-new tail lamps, a new hitch lid and also an updated bumper.

The petrol powered Elite i20 uses the 1.2-litre Kappa VTVT engine which produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque. The hatch comes with 5-speed manual as a standard while and all new CVT automatic gearbox is offered as an option to the buyers. The oil burner variants use the 1.4-litre CRDi turbocharged system with 89 bhp and 2220 Nm of peak torque. The diesel variants get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. Hyundai has ditched the 1.4-litre petrol engine and 4-speed torque converter as a combination from this facelifted model.

In terms of features, the all-new Elite i20 is right on its path giving tough times to its rivals. Top end variants get 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, speed sensing door locks and automatic door unlock upon collision, a reverse camera, parking sensors, projector headlamps with LED DRL, twin tone body colour, steering mounted audio controls, a sizable 17.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system, rear armrest with cup holders, sliding front armrest, rear AC vents and a built-in USB charger. Well, that’s a lot for a hatchback, isn’t it? All variants of the facelifted Elite i20 get twin airbags and ABS as a standard feature.
