India-bound Skoda Elroq set for global debut tomorrow
Skoda is set to unveil its first compact electric vehicle, the Elroq, on 1 October. This marks the automaker’s entry into the compact electric SUV segment, and the Elroq is confirmed to make its way to the Indian market by 2025. It will be launched alongside the slightly larger and more premium Skoda Enyaq EV SUV.
Exterior Design Hints
Early glimpses of the Elroq’s exterior design show that it draws heavy inspiration from Skoda’s Kodiaq and Enyaq models. The vehicle appears to adopt more of a crossover profile rather than a traditional SUV stance, based on camouflaged images that have been released.
Interior Expectations
While no official images of the interior have been shared yet, the Elroq is expected to feature Skoda’s new minimalist design language. This likely includes a large, one-piece display, a rectangular steering wheel, and bucket seats with significant side bolstering to enhance comfort and support.
Impressive Range and Charging Features
The Elroq is anticipated to offer an impressive driving range of around 600 km. It will also include advanced features such as fast charging from 0 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities, and multi-stage regenerative braking to maximize battery efficiency.
Future EV Plans for India
The Elroq is one of three electric SUVs that Skoda plans to introduce to the Indian market over the next five years. It will be followed by the Enyaq and a global A-segment EV, speculated to be the Kylaq, expected around 2027. The final addition will be a fully localized EV, developed and manufactured in India for global distribution.
