JSW MG Motor India introduces MG Select

JSW MG Motor India is making strides in the premium car market with the launch of a new retail chain under the brand name ‘MG Select.’ This exclusive chain will showcase the automaker’s upcoming flagship models, including hybrids and electric vehicles, marking a significant shift in the company’s retail strategy.

This approach is reminiscent of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy, which split its product lineup between two retail outlets: Arena and Nexa. Arena caters to entry-level models, while Nexa focuses on premium offerings such as the Invicto. Similarly, MG’s new strategy aims to differentiate its high-end offerings from its standard models.

Currently, MG Motor India offers seven models in its portfolio, including the Comet EV, Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV, Gloster, and the recently introduced Windsor EV. These models will continue to be available at the existing MG dealerships.

However, the MG Select brand will cater specifically to the automaker’s upcoming premium flagship models. One of the key highlights will be the Cyberster, which was unveiled in India in March 2024. MG plans to roll out additional vehicles powered by hybrid, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and fully-electric powertrains under this new sub-brand. The first MG Select showrooms are expected to open across 12 cities in a phased rollout, with the first products available in 2025.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at JSW MG Motor India, commented on the launch, stating, “The traditional car-buying process is changing, as Indian consumers increasingly gravitate toward accessible luxury. MG Select is poised to be a key player in this market, providing a premium brand experience to modern customers who seek personalization and innovation. The MG Select experience centers will offer a tailored experience, blending culture, hospitality, sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship to redefine luxury for the new-age buyer.”

With this new initiative, MG Motor India is not only expanding its product range but also reimagining the luxury car-buying experience for Indian consumers.
