Kia Motors India today launched its premium MPV Carnival during the #AutoExpo event at a starting price of Rs. 24.95 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 33.95 lakh. This will be Kia’s second vehicle in India after Seltos. The MPV will be offered in three variants; Premium, Prestige and Limousine and comes in configuration of 7, 8 or 9 seat configuration.
The Carnival MPV will be marketed to private owners rather than fleet/taxi segment. This premium vehicle by Kia will target niche audience and may not aim for mass sales. This will probably be a part of Kia’s brand building exercise and its entry into premium vehicle segment.
Kia Carnival bookings in India have crossed the 3,500 mark well ahead of its launch hence showing the popularity of the vehicle. It is worth noting that the top-spec Limousine variant will be offered only in 7-seat layout only. The car will be offered in three exterior colors, these include Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, and Steel Silver along with Black and Beige dual tone interiors.
The Kia Carnival launched in India will be Global model and will come with features in line with other market. The car features Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille, dual-tone bumpers, twin-pod LED headlamps, and wraparound tail lights at the rear.
Towards the inside it will sport 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and sports a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also features one-touch power sliding door and powered tailgate. Other notable features include rear view camera, cruise control, electrically folding ORVMs, etc.
The top-of-the-line variant will come with Nappa leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, and sports 18″ Sputtering Alloy Wheels. Kia has also included TPMS, Harman Kardon 8-speaker audio system, Air Purifier with perfume, electronic parking brake, ventilated seats, etc.
The Kia Carnival comes with a powerful 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel mill which is capable of producing 197 BHP of power 3,800 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,750 rpm and will be mated to 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The vehicle measures The Carnival 5,115 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width and 1,740 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. It comes with impressive boot space of 540L.
