Kia Seltos showcased globally in Delhi
The Seltos is Kia Motors India’s first product for India
Kia Motors India has showcased The Seltos crossover SUV in Delhi, for the world. It is based on the Kia SP Concept that was showcased last year at the Auto Expo 2018. Kia is set to mark its presence in the Indian Automotive scene with the Seltos.
Design
Kia is known in recent times for its revolutionary designs and the Seltos here is no exception. The grille is Kia’s Signature Tiger Nose Design. Notice the diamond-shaped knurling that adds to the premium quotient. This grille is flanked on the sides by sleek LED DRLs. Also, the Multilayer Side turn Indicators look very appealing. The bumper is sporty and integrates the headlamps in a case that seems to have a brushed aluminum casing.
The side profile reveals a sloping roofline and window line. The wheel arches are squared off to add some boxy SUV elements to the Seltos. The rear is well designed with Heart-Beat effect tail lamps, silver bumper inserts with twin faux exhaust outlets.
Kia is banking on its design as a major USP and they are off to a good start with the Seltos.
Interior
Though Kia didn’t formally reveal the interior, the displayed cars helped with some observations. It will get a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system. It also gets Bose Surround sound speakers. Leather seats and Sunroof will come as standard across all variants.
Speaking of variants, the Seltos will have a GT-Line variant which gets all black interiors with contrast red stitching, a flat bottom steering wheel and red highlights on the alloy wheels.
The infotainment system gets Kia’s UVO connect technology. This technology comes with features like AI Voice Command, Stolen vehicle tracking, and immobilization, remote engine Start-Stop, Remotely operated air purifier and Air Quality controller. Additionally, it also gets features like Geo-fencing, Time fencing, speed, valet and Idle.
For safety, the Seltos gets 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, HAC, and VSM. Front and rear parking sensors, as well as 360-degree camera with Blind View Monitor, is added to the list.
Price, segment, and competitors
Upon launch, the Kia Seltos will carry a price tag between 11-17 lakh Rupees, depending on the variant. It is positioned slightly above the Hyundai Creta. Speaking of which, the Hyundai Creta is also set to get a new generation of the model later this year, or next year. In fact, the Seltos is based on the new-Gen Creta platform. The Seltos will compete the likes of Tata Harrier and the soon launching MG Hector.
