KTM India Is About To Launch Big Bikes In India
KTM India is gearing up to introduce several big-capacity motorcycles in 2025. Initially, these models will be launched in select cities, with no immediate plans to expand into Tier 2 and 3 markets. Currently, the largest motorcycle in KTM’s lineup in India is the new 390 Duke, featuring a 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces over 40 bhp and 39 Nm of torque. This is set to change with the upcoming launch of the high-capacity bikes.
KTM is likely considering the launch of several exciting models, including the 890 Duke street naked, the 890 Adventure, and possibly the 990 Duke and 1390 Super Duke. The 890 Duke is known for being feature-rich, entertaining, and packed with technology, boasting a powerful 100+ bhp parallel-twin engine that excels in the midrange.
Previously, the KTM 790 Duke was available in India for a short time and was recognized as a thrilling ride that deserved greater sales. However, uncertainty surrounding KTM’s first big bike in terms of service and ownership experience, along with some electronic glitches and heating issues, hampered its success. Although KTM addressed these concerns, they chose not to update the model when transitioning to BS6 norms, given its lukewarm reception.
Now, with the big bike market steadily growing and more enthusiasts eager to fulfill their dreams of owning a powerful machine, KTM India aims to seize this opportunity.
The 890 Adventure is poised to significantly enhance KTM India’s presence in the big bike market. Adventure motorcycles have consistently demonstrated their ability to tackle the diverse challenges posed by Indian roads and conditions, making them top sellers. The 890 Adventure is highly regarded for its touring capabilities as well as off-road performance. If introduced in India, it will compete with models like the Triumph Tiger 900 and Suzuki V-Strom 800DE.
To address the concerns of potential big bike owners, KTM India should also prioritize training its service personnel, revamping showrooms, and improving parts availability. These steps will help build confidence and enhance the overall ownership experience for customers.
