KTM Launched – 8 inch Vertical, 8.8 inch Horizontal For Flagship Bikes
One of KTM’s principal unique selling propositions has been its cutting-edge technological innovations. Recently, enthusiasts were tantalized by glimpses of future advancements as KTM conducted tests on its AMT gearbox. Furthermore, the esteemed Austrian brand has unveiled new TFT touchscreens, set to grace its forthcoming 2025 models.
The newly introduced TFT dashboards form a crucial component of the latest enhancements designed to elevate the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) of KTM motorcycles. Depending on the specific model, there is a V80 vertically oriented 8-inch TFT dashboard, while the H88 features a horizontally positioned 8.8-inch TFT touchscreen. These screens boast inductive touchscreen technology, allowing for seamless operation with or without gloves. Furthermore, data presentation is set to be significantly improved, as the new TFT displays feature a resolution of 1280 x 720, ensuring clarity and precision.
Another significant enhancement is the incorporation of bonded screen technology, complemented by anti-glare coatings. Additionally, the screens exhibit anti-fingerprint and anti-reflective properties, ensuring a broader viewing angle. The visual experience is further elevated, with the new displays supporting an impressive 256,000 colors, compared to the previous screens’ 65,000 colors. This remarkable increase in color depth facilitates enhanced detail even under varying lighting conditions. Although the specific IP rating has not been disclosed, KTM assures that these screens will function flawlessly regardless of weather conditions. Furthermore, an innovative feature is the inclusion of touchscreen shortcut buttons directly on the main display, eliminating the necessity for auxiliary switches. Virtual buttons on the dashboard enable riders to effortlessly control functions such as fog lights, heated seats, and heated grips.
KTM’s latest TFT dashboards now provide riders with enhanced customization options. For instance, users can enjoy configurable split-screen functionality, selecting from five distinct layout choices. According to their preferences, riders can personalize their core home screen display to include features such as map navigation telemetry, cruise control functions, music, or favorite selections. Alternatively, a more generalized screen option is available, presenting essential information in a straightforward format.
To further enhance the overall user experience, the updated switchgear now features a dedicated Ride Mode button. Additional improvements include newly designed cruise control buttons, a revamped 5-way joystick with a back button, and an upgraded light and ignition switch. For models equipped with the AMT, a new A/M (automatic/manual) button has been introduced. Furthermore, customizable paddle buttons are available for models without AMT. The backlit feature of these new buttons ensures they are easily identifiable, while their strategic positioning allows for effortless accessibility.
Users will enjoy IoT connectivity through eSIM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a GPS antenna. The CCU3.0 seamlessly connects to the user’s smartphone upon ignition, granting easy access to smartphone features such as music and contacts. While initial updates for the CCU3.0 will be conducted through KTM dealerships, over-the-air (OTA) update functionality will be introduced in the future.
