KTM parent company Pierer Mobility acquires majority stake in MV Agusta

Pierer Mobility AG, the parent entity of KTM AG, has declared the acquisition of a 50.1 percent interest in MV Agusta motorcycles, effectively granting the Austrian firm majority control over the esteemed Italian marque headquartered in Varese. Initially, KTM AG secured a 25.1 percent stake in MV Agusta in November 2022 through a capital augmentation initiative.
Subsequently, in October 2023, KTM AG assumed responsibility for the procurement and supply chain operations of the Varese-based firm. Moreover, KTM AG undertook the distribution of MV Agusta’s motorcycle lineup through its established sales channels. Although KTM AG possessed the option to secure a majority interest in MV Agusta by December 2025, the decision to exercise this option was made prematurely. With the newfound commanding interest in the Italian manufacturer, KTM AG is poised to assume operational oversight of the company’s industrial operations. Additionally, there are strategic plans underway to augment the production capacity of MV Agusta’s Varese facility to surpass the 10,000-unit threshold.
In retrospect, MV Agusta is revered as an illustrious Italian marque renowned for crafting some of the most aesthetically pleasing motorcycles globally. From the iconic MV Agusta F3 and F4 to the revered Brutale series, the brand is synonymous with captivating design and engineering excellence. Nonetheless, the journey of MV Agusta has been marked by various challenges, including financial turbulence. However, under the stewardship of Pierer Mobility AG, the future trajectory of MV Agusta remains eagerly anticipated, as the brand embarks on a new chapter under new leadership.
