Made-in-India Honda Elevate launched as WR-V in Japan

In September of the previous year, Honda Cars India introduced the Elevate SUV to the Indian market. Following its success, the company has now unveiled the vehicle in Japan, branding it as the WR-V. This model, which competes with the Hyundai Creta, has impressively crossed the sales threshold of 30,000 units in India within just six months.

When it comes to the engine specifications, Honda has decided to maintain consistency. The WR-V for the Japanese market is powered by the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, capable of producing 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. However, in contrast to the Indian version of the Elevate, which offers a six-speed manual transmission option, the WR-V in Japan is exclusively available with a CVT transmission.

Takuya Tsumura, the President and CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd., expressed his pride on this milestone, stating, “Introducing the ‘Made-in-India’ Elevate as WR-V in Japan marks a significant achievement for us. It underscores our manufacturing excellence and the integral role Honda Cars India plays in the global strategy of Honda. The Elevate has received a fantastic response in the Indian market, emerging as a cornerstone of our business. We are optimistic about mirroring this success internationally, delivering the highest quality and craftsmanship to our worldwide customer base.”
