Mahindra is gearing up to launch its new line of electric vehicles, currently undergoing testing across various regions in India. Recently, the Mahindra XUV.e9 was spotted navigating the busy streets of Mumbai, offering a glimpse into what this innovative vehicle has to offer.
A Sleek and Spacious Design
The XUV.e9 is the coupe variant of the electric XUV700 (XUV.e8), and it boasts a distinctive sloping roofline. Despite this sleek design, the vehicle does not compromise on boot space; the test mules were observed carrying two 20-inch tires comfortably, indicating ample storage capacity. The car features dynamic turn indicators seamlessly integrated into the taillamps, where the charging port is also discreetly concealed. Additionally, the XUV.e9 rides on large alloy wheels, has front pop-out door handles, and sports Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) similar to those of the XUV.e8.
Interior Highlights
Inside the XUV.e9, the standout feature is the trio of expansive screens: one for the instrument cluster, another for the infotainment system, and a third for the co-passenger. This setup is complemented by a two-spoke steering wheel, potentially illuminated with the Mahindra logo. The center console is equipped with various knobs and buttons, suggesting controls for driving modes, traction control, and an electronic brake. The seats are designed for comfort, offering substantial lumbar and thigh support. Even the second-row passengers enjoy generous space and dedicated air conditioning vents.
Anticipated Powertrain and Performance
Although Mahindra has not officially disclosed the specifications of the XUV.e9, it is expected that the battery capacity for this premium EV will range between 60-80kWh. Given its high-end positioning, the XUV.e9 is likely to feature the largest 80kWh battery, paired with a robust electric motor. This combination is anticipated to deliver a range of 450-500 kilometers on a single charge. During testing, the prototype displayed a range of 369 kilometers, suggesting strong performance capabilities.
As Mahindra continues to refine its electric vehicle lineup, the XUV.e9 stands out as a promising addition, blending advanced technology, substantial power, and a design that meets both aesthetic and practical needs.
