Maruti Suzuki, in its recent announcement of quarterly and monthly sales figures, highlighted the impressive performance of its CNG vehicle lineup in the first quarter of FY2024. The automaker, which boasts the largest CNG portfolio in the market, sold 1.38 lakh CNG cars from April to June 2024.
During this period, Maruti Suzuki recorded total domestic sales of 4.14 lakh units, with CNG models accounting for a significant portion of these sales. The company currently offers 12 CNG-powered models, including the Alto K10, Celerio, Eeco, S-Presso, Wagon R, Dzire, Brezza, Ertiga, Baleno, Fronx, XL6, and Grand Vitara. The first eight models are available through Arena dealerships, while the last four are sold via the brand’s premium Nexa outlets.
Additionally, Maruti Suzuki announced that the newly launched next-generation Swift will soon include CNG variants. Previously, select variants of the Swift offered CNG options before the fourth-generation update. Among the CNG models, the Ertiga has seen particularly high demand, with 43,000 open bookings for the MPV across the country.
Maruti Suzuki’s strong Q1 performance in the CNG segment underscores the growing popularity and demand for eco-friendly and cost-effective vehicle options in India.
