New Renault Duster leaked ahead of official reveal

The highly anticipated debut of the all-new Renault Duster in India is imminent, slated to arrive by the end of this year. Ahead of its official unveiling, leaked images have surfaced, offering a glimpse into what the vehicle has in store. Drawing inspiration from its predecessor, the Dacia Duster, unveiled last November, the new Renault Duster closely mirrors its design, features, and layout.

The leaked images showcase its commanding presence, characterized by a tall stance, oversized wheels, and a prominent double-stack grille flanked by slim headlamps. The silhouette remains faithful to the iconic Duster shape, while the rear boasts distinctive triangular tail lamps and a robust boot door. Inside, the cabin echoes familiarity with dual digital displays, a three-spoke steering wheel, a chic grey and black color scheme, and a centralized stacked console.

Under the hood, the Renault Duster will offer a choice of three petrol engines. Leading the lineup is a 1.6-liter petrol engine paired with an automatic gearbox and two electric motors, delivering 140bhp/148Nm and an impressive mileage of 24.5 km. Additionally, a mild-hybrid 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, complemented by a 48V electric motor, is available, boasting an output ranging from 110bhp to 160bhp. This variant is equipped with 4X4 technology and offers multiple driving modes, with transmission options including a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Lastly, there’s a three-cylinder turbocharged petrol/LPG compatible engine coupled with a six-speed manual transmission, although it’s unlikely to be offered in the Indian market.

Scheduled for a late 2024 release, the Renault Duster marks the first of several significant launches from the alliance. It will pave the way for its Nissan counterpart and a forthcoming three-row version, speculated to be based on the Dacia Jogger platform.
