Next-generation BMW X3 India launch in January 2025
The fourth-generation BMW X3 is set to make its debut in India at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. This new model will be available in the X3 20d diesel and X3 20 petrol variants, with the latter making a return after being off the market for over a year in the region. We’ve had the chance to drive the vehicle, and you can find our video linked above.
Unveiled in June 2024, the new X3 retains its recognizable silhouette while featuring a refreshed front and rear design. BMW has drawn heavily from the styling cues of the iX, opting for a more angular design as opposed to the softer contours of the previous generation. The brand’s commitment to minimalism is particularly evident in the interior, where a large screen dominates the dashboard and centralizes most of the vehicle’s functions.
On the performance side, the X3 20 petrol variant is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 206 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, while the X3 20d diesel variant delivers 197 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. Both engines come equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although the six-cylinder 30d model will not be launched in India, a limited number of the performance-oriented M50 variant is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
In this new iteration, the BMW X3 will compete against prominent models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60. The pricing for the new X3 across both engine options is anticipated to fall within the range of Rs. 68 lakh to Rs. 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
