Nissan Magnite facelift new teaser released ahead of 4 October launch

Nissan has released the first teaser for the updated Magnite, ahead of its official launch on October 4. This marks the first major facelift for the compact SUV, which is set to receive a refreshed front design, new lighting elements, and redesigned alloy wheels. The Magnite, already well-equipped at the top end, is likely to see only minor tweaks to its feature list and interior.

No changes are expected under the hood, with the two current powertrain options likely to remain. The lower variants will continue with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed AMT. The more powerful option, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, will also be available, paired with a six-speed manual or a CVT. Notably, the Magnite shares its powertrains with the Renault Kiger.

This updated Magnite is part of Nissan India’s revitalization strategy, which includes the launch of five new models over the coming years. Following the launch of the X-Trail, the refreshed Magnite is the second model in this plan. The lineup will later expand to include a two-row C-SUV, a three-row SUV, and eventually a small electric vehicle, which is speculated to be an electric Magnite.

Having not introduced a completely new vehicle in nearly three years, Nissan is counting on the updated Magnite to reestablish its presence in the sub-four-meter compact SUV segment. The Magnite will face competition from rivals like the Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, Toyota Taisor, Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300.
