Porsche Sports Cup China returns for two events at Zhuhai and Shanghai

After debut in 2019, the Porsche Sports Cup China is all set to return in 2020 for two events at the Zhuhai International Circuit which is scheduled on July 11-12 and the Shanghai International Circuit on October 31 – November 1.

Porsche Sports Cup’s origins may be in Europe, but its introduction in China last season proved to be incredibly popular with over 80 cars, including 20 racers and 60 road cars in attendance. The thrill of the race track fuels the passion of Porsche sports car fans worldwide, and a second season of Porsche Sports Cup China will continue to serve Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific’s purpose of providing new platforms to the growing Asian motorsport fanbase.

The combined customer and clubsport racing event caters to all skill levels, from complete novice to semi-professional driver, with dedicated podiums and awards for each competition. With a fleet of demo cars, Porsche Sports Cup China welcomes newcomers to take their first step in motorsport in a Porsche-controlled environment from passenger laps to ‘Arrive & Drive’ packages.

In addition to the spectacular Porsche Parade, an Introduction to Race Track programme is available for a maiden circuit driving experience, which includes four laps at the wheel of a Porsche alongside one of the marque’s professional instructors.

For those with laps already under their belt, the Porsche Drivers Competition Time Trial pits competitors against the clock in their two-door Porsche sports cars. Split into two groups, entrants will have the opportunity to enjoy two 30-minute practice sessions before the Time Trial competition in their own Porsche. Afterwards, participants will be invited to experience passenger laps in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge China for race license holders will also return with two 30-minute races and a varied grid combining drivers of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, 911 GT3 Cup, 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, and 911 GT3 R.

Not only does the Sprint Challenge China combine various categories of racing, it also marks the first step on the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid which involves on-track racing, following the entry level sports car experience at the Porsche Experience Centre and advanced driver training with the Porsche Track Experience.

The Shanghai round will also once again host the annual Sportscar Together Day, with family-friendly experiences on the track, including VIP Hot Lap and Slalom Challenge, as well as off it with several engaging activities to immerse guests in the extraordinary world of Porsche.
