Production-spec Citroen Basalt revealed
Citroen has officially revealed the production version of its much-anticipated Basalt coupe SUV, set to make its debut on August 2. This marks Citroen’s fourth model for the Indian market under the C-Cube program and positions itself as the French automaker’s budget flagship.
The newly released images confirm several details previously seen in spy shots. The Basalt features a distinctive profile, unique wheel design, and a notable C-pillar shape that sets it apart. A rear spoiler, conventional door handles, and wrap-around taillamps further enhance its aesthetic appeal. The front end closely resembles the C3 Aircross but distinguishes itself with LED DRLs and projector headlamps.
Glimpses of the interior reveal a beige color scheme complemented by a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, and a climate control system. The cabin is designed for comfort, with armrests for both front and rear passengers, the latter also featuring dual cup holders.
Under the hood, the Basalt will be powered by Citroen’s 1.2-litre PureTech 110 turbo engine, delivering 109bhp and 205Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. This new model aims to compete in the highly competitive segment alongside the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate.
The Citroen Basalt’s official reveal marks an exciting addition to the brand’s lineup, promising a blend of unique design, advanced features, and competitive performance to attract Indian consumers.
