Skoda’s smallest EV spied undergoing high-speed testing

Skoda unveiled its smallest EV, initially showcased as the Elroq concept in 2023, and now it has been spotted in production form, even testing at the prestigious Nurburgring. Recent images of the test mule reveal prototype elements like split headlamps, a faux grille, and vertical air curtains. The design also highlights pronounced wheel arches and a sharply raked windscreen. At the rear, signature Skoda taillamps and logo placement further underscore its identity.

Insider sources report that the interior features dual digital screens and maintains a minimalist aesthetic, echoing the concept car’s essence from last year. Skoda has officially confirmed that the Elroq will measure 4.5 meters in length, positioning it larger than the Kushaq in overall size.

Expected to utilize the MEB platform, the model is likely to share components with Skoda’s premium electric vehicles such as the Enyaq and the upcoming Superb EV. Anticipated specifications include a 62kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted motor generating approximately 177bhp.

The Elroq holds significant strategic importance, providing insights into future developments for models like the Kushaq, Slavia, and an India-specific EV slated for launch by 2027. It is set to compete with the Maruti eVX, Toyota Urban Sport, Honda Elevate EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Kia Carens EV, as well as offerings from Mahindra and Tata in the evolving electric vehicle market.
