Tata Motors to launch Gravitas in early 2021, priced at Rs 15 lakh
Tata Motors’ Gravitas is set to be launched sometime early in 2021 with a price tag of Rs.15 lakh, according to reports. The seven-seater SUV which was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 was initially planned to be a festive season launch but has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.
As per the reports, the SUV is 63mm longer and 80 mm taller than the Harrier SUV. It is also most likely to retain the Impact 2.0 design and styling language.
The SUV will be powered by BS-VI-compliant 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo diesel engine which churns out 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. The engine might be paired to 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed AMT.
“Going forward, two additional models are going to come, Gravitas and Hornbill. Gravitas will be a seven-seater SUV while Hornbill will be a sub-compact SUV. Thus we will have four SUVs in our portfolio which would be the widest,” said Shailesh Chandra, president, passenger vehicle business unit.
“The company plans to launch Gravitas during the last quarter of this fiscal. It is yet to fix a date for the Hornbill introduction,” he further added.
The Tata Gravitas will most likely go against the likes of MG Hector Plus, the upcoming next-gen Mahindra XUV500, and the forthcoming 7-seater version of Hyundai Creta.
