This is how future BMW SUVs will look like
BMW has introduced the Vision Neue Klasse X concept for its SUV lineup at its yearly showcase, following the unveiling of the Vision Neue Klasse concept for sedans. The Vision Neue Klasse X offers a glimpse into the potential future design of the X5 and other SUV models in the coming years.
Rooted in the same foundational architecture presented last year, this new SUV design philosophy is slated for mass production starting next year at BMW’s plant in Debrecen, Hungary. This platform will also support the sixth iteration of BMW’s eDrive electric powertrain technology.
The design of the Neue Klasse X distinguishes itself with more balanced proportions compared to its sedan siblings. It elevates BMW’s signature sharp design aesthetic with more pronounced cuts and creases. A notable redesign is seen in the kidney grille, which has been scaled down, reminiscent of classic BMW models such as the 2002 and 3.0 CSL. Both the headlights and taillights have departed from the traditional bangle design, embracing a new look.
Inside, the iX’s design evolution is evident, featuring a futuristic and minimalist interior devoid of physical buttons, which is quite a departure from traditional designs. Interestingly, the iconic ‘Hofmeister kink’ has been reimagined as a reflective print within the rear quarter glass, showcasing BMW’s innovative approach to design elements.
As a conceptual design study, the Vision Neue Klasse X’s design cues are expected to influence the production models of BMW’s next-generation SUVs, including the X1, X3, X5, and the top-of-the-line X7, as well as their electric variants.
