Toyota Hilux-rival Kia Tasman revealed: Now in pictures

Kia has officially unveiled the Tasman, its first-ever pick-up truck, which is set to hit the South Korean market in the first half of 2025. This exciting new model will also be available in various international markets, including Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Toyota Hilux and potentially the Isuzu V-Cross in India.

Design and Features

The Kia Tasman boasts a striking front design with vertically oriented headlights and C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) seamlessly integrated into the cladding above the front wheel arches. True to Kia’s design language, the iconic tiger nose grille is prominently featured, complemented by a robust front bumper and hood that contribute to its commanding presence on the road.

At the rear, the Tasman is equipped with C-shaped taillights that complete its bold appearance. The cargo bed is available in four configurations: Single Decker, Double Decker, Sports Bar, and Ladder Rack, catering to various consumer needs.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Tasman offers a modern and tech-savvy environment, highlighted by dual 12.3-inch displays—one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other functioning as the touchscreen infotainment system. Additional features include a large panoramic sunroof, a folding table on the center console, wireless charging capabilities, and an eight-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system, among numerous other amenities.

The pick-up will be available in two variants: the X-Line and X-Pro, both of which come with all-wheel drive as standard. The base model will offer all-wheel drive as an optional feature. Furthermore, the Tasman is equipped with an extensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance safety and convenience.

Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the Kia Tasman offers two engine choices: a 2.5-liter petrol engine that delivers 277 bhp and 421 Nm of torque, or a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 207 bhp and 441 Nm of torque. The petrol variant is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel engine offers the option of either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox.

With its impressive features and robust performance, the Kia Tasman is poised to make a significant impact in the pick-up truck segment when it launches in 2025.
